Henry Matthiessen III is a local artist mastering photography as a medium since 1972.  Henry’s intent is to convey moments of drama, emotion, and beauty showing nature at her finest while demonstrating man’s insignificance among it.

Working out of Stoned Art Studio & Gallery located on a hilltop in rural Elizabeth Illinois offers a stunning gateway to Jo Daviess County, Illinois and The Mississippi Valley region offering fabulous lighting and composition allowing Henry to further master his skills. Henry has traveled extensively throughout the United States chasing light and searching out great compositions.

Henry mentors Galena High School photography students. He also lectures and offers guided photography tours of the region helping others master craft of photography as an art medium.

Visiting his Stoned Art Studio & Gallery is a worthy experience.
